  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 30-38, 41-39, 29-23, 27-18 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    33 % Edberg – 39 of 118
    35 % Becker – 45 of 127

The first of three consecutive Wimbledon finals between them… The match was suspended at 3:2* for Edberg [3] in the 1st set due to rain and resumed on Monday (interrupted by rain again at the end of the 1st set). In the opener Edberg had a break point leading 3:0; Becker [8] held after five deuces – the longest game of the final, which lasted 2 hours 50 minutes. The Swede saved a break point at 3-all in the 2nd set and from that moment to the end he had no problems to hold 11 times in a row. “So many players have done different things, I didn’t know what to come up with,” Edberg said about a post-match celebration on his back (photo) with strangely bent left leg. “I couldn’t do much. I was just falling.”

Edberg’s route to his 17th title:
    1 Guy Forget 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4
    2 Richey Reneberg 6-3, 7-6(6), 5-7, 6-2
    3 Ken Flach 6-2, 7-5, 2-6, 7-5
    4 Simon Youl 6-2, 6-4, 6-4
    Q Patrik Kuhnen 6-3, 4-6, 6-1, 7-6(2)
    S Miloslav Mecir 4-6, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4
    W Boris Becker 4-6, 7-6(2), 6-4, 6-2
