Stich [7] beat in back-to-back matches, two runners-up (Edberg & Becker) of three previous Wimbledon editions! In the final, he had break points in Becker’s [2] six consecutive service games between the 11th game of the 2nd set & the last one in the match! He finished the championships with a return winner. Two years later, Becker takes a revenge on the same court. “I had nothing to lose,” Stich said. “Nobody expected me to beat Stefan Edberg in the semifinals. Nobody expected me to beat Boris in the finals. He was the favorite, the big favorite, and so I just could go out there and just try to play my game, knowing I had a chance to beat him. For him, it was like he had to win.”
