  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 53-47, 31-16, 36-29 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    48 % Cash – 40 of 82
    26 % Lendl – 34 of 130

In the 2-hour 45-minute final, Lendl squandered a 4:1* (30/15) lead in the 3rd set. Cash [11] also defeated Lendl [1] in the Aussie Open ’87 semifinal (in four sets). In the last three matches at Wimbledon ’87, Cash ousted three possible highest ranked opponents he could have faced: nos. 3, 7 and 1 respectively. Schapers – the only man who took a set away from him – was ranked no. 64 at the time. Lendl’s second and last Wimbledon final. “It didn’t matter how I got the ball back,” Cash said, “I just had to do it, and that is the way you have to play, especially on grass.” Lendl agreed: “He barely missed any first serves and I couldn’t make any impression on his serve.” Lendl was similarly helpless as a receiver on the same court as he lost the semifinal in 1983 to McEnroe.

Cash’s route to his 4th title:
    1 Marcel Freeman 6-0, 6-3, 6-2
    2 Paul McNamee 7-5, 6-4, 6-2
    3 Michiel Schapers 7-6(4), 6-2, 2-6, 6-4
    4 Guy Forget 6-2, 6-3, 6-4
    Q Mats Wilander 6-3, 7-5, 6-4
    S Jimmy Connors 6-4, 6-4, 6-1
    W Ivan Lendl 7-6(5), 6-2, 7-5
