  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: [ 36-28, 30-38, 41-41, 28-33, 60-51 ]
    Points won directly on serve:
    30 % Djokovic – 53 of 176
    26 % Nadal – 55 of 210

The 52nd meeting between them and for the first time in history a pair of players produce the second more-than 5-hour match # The first hour didn’t indicate it’d be so long, after the relatively easy opener, the Serb [21] had break points in Nadal’s [1] first two service games (in 4 of the entire 2nd set which is unusual). In the pivotal 3rd set, Djokovic saved three set points in the tie-break (at 5:6 and 7:8 with service winners, at 6:7* with a backhand dropshot). In the decider he withstood five mini-match points, twice escaping from 15/40 (4-all & 7-all) – saved two of them with the help of aces, 23 in total – his personal best… After the 11/9 tie-break, the match was suspended & continued the following day, entirely played under the roof… That match clearly indicated that Djokovic returned to his top form after struggling with an elbow injury more than a year. Second year running, Nadal was eliminated from Wimbledon losing a prolonged fifth set.

    Serve & volley: Djokovic 1/1, Nadal 1/1

    # Comparison of their two 5-hour five-setters:
    Aus Open ’12: Djokovic d. Nadal 5-7, 6-4, 6-2, 6-7, 7-5… 5 hours 53 minutes… Total points: 193-176… Djoke 4 pts away from defeat
    Wimbley ’18: Djokovic d. Nadal 6-4, 3-6, 7-6, 3-6, 10-8… 5 hours 15 minutes… Total points: 195-191… Djoke 5 pts away from defeat
