Ancic [10] paid the price for a demanding win over a teenage Djokovic. Of course he was an underdog against Federer [1], but perhaps he could have made the things a bit tighter if he had beaten the Serbian easier a day before. That 3x 6-4 scoreline is actually more balanced than the progress of it because Federer obtained breaks at the beginning of each set, in the 3rd set he already led *3:0 (40/30) when his concentration went away for a few minutes, the Croat even had a break point for 4-all, and the ball in play – Federer passed him with a forehand. That quarterfinal snapped Ancic’s 9-match winning streak.
