  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 29-20, 28-22 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    44 % Rusedski – 23 of 52
    12 % Agassi – 6 of 47

Brilliant service performance from 27-year-old Rusedski [58] who was coming back from a bad 2000 year – he needed that entire season to fully recover from a right foot surgery he’d undergone at the end of 1999. In the San Jose final he dispatched Agassi [4] in just 59 minutes, not being taken to ‘deuce’ on his serve even once, snapping Agassi’s 11-match winning streak (14. counting Kooyong Classic). “The way I was thinking and serving out there, I was in command,” Rusedski said. The runner-up stated: “You have to expect him to serve well. Once he gets up a break, you feel he gets the feeling that the finish line is in sight.”

Rusedski’s route to his 10th title:
    1 Harel Levy 6-1, 7-6(4)
    2 Renzo Furlan 6-3, 6-2
    Q Lleyton Hewitt 5-7, 6-1, 6-4
    S Xavier Malisse 6-4, 6-2
    W Andre Agassi 6-3, 6-4

    # Comparison of Rusedski’s two almost identical wins over Agassi (2-9 in their H2H) – they didn’t face each other in the meantime:
    San Jose 1997 (SF): Rusedski d. Agassi 6-3, 6-4… 73 minutes… Total points: 71-56 (aces: 14-0)
    San Jose 2001 (F): Rusedski d. Agassi 6-3, 6-4… 59 minutes… Total points: 57-42 (aces: 13-0)
