   4 hours 21 minutes – very long match with this scoreline because they both like to extend the breaks between service points to maximum. Auger [9] unexpectedly led *5:1 (once 15/40, then 0/40 on serve) and was playing beyond his standards until 3-all in the 2nd set when the 14 years older Nadal [5] took control over the match. Nevertheless he made uncharacteristic errors in the 4th set. Similarly to 3-all in the 2nd set, when they were even after six games in the decider, he found another gear and is still unbeaten in five sets on clay (his fifth match of this kind – the first once since 2013). It was a tricky match for Nadal in the round of last 16, because Auger is no. 4 in the ATP Race this year, moreover the current co-coach of Auger – Toni Nadal – enjoyed many years of tremendous successes with his nephew. During the match he was sitting in a neutral box though.
