   The first of their five Roland Garros matches. On paper it was very open contest – [5] Nadal’s first major semifinal, Federer [1] was on an 11-match winning streak having defeated very good clay-courters and had won in five sets their previous meeting. But Nadal was a different animal, from the beginning he managed to return almost all Federer’s serve and broke him four times in the opener. In the 2nd set the Swiss already led 5:1. There was 4-all (30-all) in the 3rd set when the serving Nadal got the point with a heavy forehand on Federer’s backhand, and established his supremacy over the Swiss not only in that match, but in their entire rivalry on Philippe Chatrier court. He converted the third set point with an amazing transition from defence to offensive, came back from *1:3 in the 4th set and the rest is history…
