  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 26-35, 30-15, 40-40 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    8 % Ramos – 8 of 99
    13 % Murray – 12 of 87

Every player whose career is extended over many years, loses at least once when his loss seems impossible – Murray suffered such a defeat as No. 1 in the world. Ramos [24] already played well in the opener, but he was unable to get any cheap points, he got his first point directly behind the serve to lead 4:2 in the 2nd set (so he needed 7 service games!). Murray had many opportunities to win the decider… *4:0, 4:1 (40/15), 4:3 (30/0) and 5:4 (two ‘deuces’) – being two points away from defeat twice, Ramos played his best tennis, first he won a baseline rally with a forehand winner, then he passed Murray with his backhand from quite difficult position. Murray saved the first match point, but Ramos got another one thanks to high-stop-volley and experienced the biggest win of his career when the Scot netted a dropshot. # Just one week later Murray defeats Ramos in similar circumstances in Barcelona, saving a triple mini-match point at 4-all in the 2nd set, and trailing 4:5* (30/15) in the 3rd!

    # Comparison of their two week-by-week matches:
    Monte Carlo (3R): Ramos d. Murray 2-6, 6-2, 7-5… 2 hours 33 minutes… Total points: 96-90… 2 points away (double mini-MP)
    Barcelona (QF): Murray d. Ramos 2-6, 6-4, 7-6(4)… 2 hours 59 minutes… Total points: 100-96… 3 points away (triple mini-MP)
