  1. Voo de Mar says:
Points won directly behind the serve:
    35 % Davydenko – 20 of 57
    31 % Del Potro – 18 of 57

The first ‘Masters’ edition in London after four years in Shanghai. It was an unexpected final of two hardest strikers from the back of the court at the time. In the 2nd set Del Potro [5] had two break points leading 3:2 – the first one Davydenko [7] saved with an ace, on the second occasion he made a successful serve-and-volley action (something rarely seen in his repertoire), and broke his opponent in the 9th game at ‘love’ with the help of three ground-stroke winners. The 28-year-old Russian, who was serving in that final above his standards, said: “To win a trophy is always something important in the career of a tennis player. It was important to beat Federer in the semi-final, but a final is different. I was surprised to win 6-3 6-4, 1 hour and 24 minutes. Before I’d played three-set matches, mostly two hours. I came in from the first point with 100% concentration. Before the match I was so tired, I was scared about how I would start the match, how I could play against Del Potro.” The seven years younger runner-up joked: “He’s very fast. He plays like PlayStation. He runs to everywhere. It’s very difficult to make winners.”

Davydenko’s route to his 19th title:
    rr Novak Djokovic 6-3, 4-6, 5-7
    rr Rafael Nadal 6-1, 7-6(4)
    rr Robin Soderling 7-6(4), 4-6, 6-3
    S Roger Federer 6-2, 4-6, 7-5
    W Juan Martin del Potro 6-3, 6-4
