Rios’ first big result in the most important tournaments. The 21-year-old Chilean [20] was optically better in the first 80 minutes of the match, until he led 3:2* (15-all) – then he lost a point he should have won twice & somehow it turned him into an error machine through the last four games. In the opener he had firmly saved two set points at *4:5, then was serving to win the set at 6:5. The pattern was repeated in the subsequent tie-break – Chang [5] led 5:3*, then Rios had his first set point and netted a forehand from a winnable position to lose the breaker 6/8.
