  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 38-39, 30-35, 37-25 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    20 % Garin – 22 of 105
    16 % Ruud – 16 of 99

An unexpected final of two youngsters playing in similar styles; they both should beleading clay-courters in the decade of 20s. Ruud [95] came back from a break in the opener to lead 5:4 (30-all) and 6:5 (30/0). In the tie-break Garin produced three backhand winners even though he hadn’t hit a single one prior to it. The Chilean [73] survived three break points at 2-all in the decider, and obtained the vital break in the following game, becoming the first man from Chile to win an ATP title in ten years. “It was a really intense match today. I think what I did well was to keep playing my game throughout the match,” said Garin. “Of course, now I want more, so I have to keep working hard and improving every day.”

Garin’s route to his maiden title (11th main-level event):
    1 Pablo Cuevas 4-6, 6-4, 6-2
    2 Jeremy Chardy 3-6, 7-6(4), 7-6(7) – 5 m.p.
    Q Henri Laaksonen 6-3, 6-2
    S Sam Querrey 7-6(2), 6-2
    W Casper Ruud 7-6(4), 4-6, 6-3

    Serve & volley: Garin 2/2, Ruud 0
