  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 31-23, 30-16 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    35 % Agassi – 14 of 40
    18 % Muster – 11 of 60

A lot of fuss about nothing… It was highly anticipated match for more than a year, a period when only Agassi & Muster seriously threatened Sampras at the top of men’s pyramid. Muster [2] entered the semifinal not being broken in three previous matches that week while Agassi [7] needed deciders in all his previous three matches, so even though the American was a better hard-court player, the final outcome seemed very uncertain and a tight contest in prospect. Agassi broke Muster already in the opening game and established his superiority with heavy ground-strokes and impressive overheads from the baseline. Muster needed to fight off a few break points to hold once in the 2nd set. In retrospect it’s quite interesting event in Muster’s career because it initiated a one year period when he was more successful on hardcourts than on claycourts.
