46 % Kyrgios – 28 of 60

Unexpected final, but as many as 6 out of Top 10 players withdrew (Murray, Federer, Wawrinka, Djokovic, Cilic & Nishikori) while No. 7 Alexander Zverev was exhausted after back-to-back titles, and lost in a bad style his opening match 6-4, 3-6, 4-6 to Frances Tiafoe [87]…
The Bulgarian [11] broke in the 1st set at 3:2 withstanding break points in his service games between. In the 2nd set Kyrgios [23] was serving very well, but at 5-all he committed three double faults on ‘deuce-court’ not trying to risk on two occasions – Dimitrov converted the vital break point as his opponent sent a forehand long responding on a return. “I’m just happy. There’s nothing else I can say, honestly. I’m just happy and I’m humbled to have that trophy in my hands, and especially to win here, my first Masters 1000. It’s just amazing. I always like this tournament. I have played it quite a few times and always thought this can be maybe one of the first ones, and it is the first one,” said Dimitrov, who lost last year to the champion Cilic in the semifinal after a dramatic encounter.

Dimitrov’s route to his 7th title:
2 Feliciano Lopez 7-6(5), 6-4
3 Juan Martin del Potro 6-3, 7-5
Q Yuichi Sugita 6-2, 6-1
S John Isner 7-6(4), 7-6(10)
W Nick Kyrgios 6-3, 7-5

# Dimitrov saved 3 set points at *4:5 vs Del Potro, and 3 set points in the second tie-break vs Isner
