   Edberg [1] and Cash [84] faced each other thrice at Australian Open, in two-year intervals. In 1987 (final on grass) Edberg won in five sets, another two matches were played on hardcourts, and the Swede won them in straight sets. In 1989 he defeated an injured Cash 6-4, 6-0, 6-2 in 4R, two years later their three-setter was much more entertaining, and the Australian should have won at least one of the opening sets. In the 1st he led 3:0* and 6:5 (40/30) before losing the tie-break 6/8, in the 2nd set he led *4:1 (15/0), then 4:2 (40/15) and had the third mini-set point at 4-all.
