   46 % Becker – 69 of 150
   29 % Nystrom – 53 of 182

   One of the most important matches in [20] Becker’s career. The four years older Nystrom [8] led *5:4 (30-all) in the 5th set, not losing his serve from the end of the 3rd set. Then he decided to attack the net behind his second serve (which was his unusual tactics during the match) and netted his backhand volley. At 6:5 he was serving again to win the match, but that time lost his serve to 15 and the match a few games later after 3 hours 20 minutes. The 2nd set tie-break 7/5 (Becker led 6:3)… Later thay year they face each other in the US Open fourth round, and Nystrom avenges 6-3, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 after very tense ending (Becker fought off four match points and had a triple break point in the following game).
