   Fourth match within five years between Borg [1] and Connors [3] on Centre Court at Wimbledon (the Swede won them all, including their previous five-setter #)… In the ’81 semifinal Connors led 6-0, 4:2 (30/15), but Borg levelled at 4 games apiece after a 9-deuce game and found his proper rhythm. In the 5th set, Borg saved two break points trailing 1:2. Connors, in the 11th year of his pro career, lost for the first time leading 2-0 in sets! He’ll lose a match of this type again eight years later (to Kevin Curren at Key Biscayne).

   # Comparison of their two five-setters:
   Wimbledon 1977 (F): Borg d. Connros 3-6, 6-2, 6-1, 5-7, 6-4… 3 hours 14 minutes… Total points: 155-133
   Wimbledon 1980 (SF): Borg d. Connros 0-6, 4-6, 6-3, 6-0, 6-4… 3 hours 18 minutes… Total points: 142-138
