   Three years after their first Wimbeldon semifinal, McEnroe [2] wins with the scoreline similar to the match he lost. Six out of nine games of the exceptionally long ‘6-3’ 2nd set went to ‘deuce’, Connors [3] saved break points in four different games! In the 4th set he led *4:2 (15-all) and lost four straight games… Initially, McEnroe defeated Connors just once in seven meetings when Connors retired, but after the Wimbledon ’80 semifinal the older American led just 8:5 in their meetings.
