Even though Cilic [6] began the final a bit nervously, he had a break point at 2:1, but netted a backhand off Federer’s second serve. Actually from that moment to the end of the match, Federer’s superiority was overwhelming – he broke twice in sets 1 and 2, and another break at 3-all in the 3rd set did the job. The match lasted 1 hour 41 minutes as Federer [5] served his eighth ace on second match point to conclude the most one-sided final since 2002 when Lleyton Hewitt defeated David Nalbanidna 6-1, 6-3, 6-2 after 1 hour 56 minutes. In the 2nd set at *0:3 Cilic was sobbing because he couldn’t mentally deal with the pain off his foot blister, it affected his focus from the beginning and he felt ashamed of the scoreline. After medical treatment he played the entire game serve-and-volley, won it at 30, and to the end he didn’t show more signs of the mental weakness trying to play his normal tennis.
