  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 30-17, 19-29, 25-32, 32-23, 29-16 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    15 % Chang– 18 of 117
    11 % Washington – 15 of 135

Nigh session on court no. 1 and intriguing encounter between two Americans, the three years older Washington [14] was an upcoming player then, he had defeated Chang [4] in their previous ’92 match (Memphis). The match in which serve didn’t mean anything, baseline rallies in almost every point, Washington played serve-and-volley a few times. He led 2:1* (40/30) in the 4th set, but failed to break and since that moment he was unable to hold to the end (lost his serve six times in a row). Chang needed 3 hours 34 minutes, in his another round he played longer against Wayne Ferreira (4:16 h).
