  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: [ 28-23, 52-47, 31-26 ]
Points won directly behind the serve:
    14 % Djokovic – 17 of 118
    20 % Del Potro – 18 of 89

[6] Djokovic’s amazing performance, he tactically played a perfect match being 100% focused throughout, and confirmed that after a very bad 2017 season when he’d bee struggling with his elbow, he is the best player in the world again having won back-to-back major titles. He broke Del Potro [3] at 4:3 in the 1st set despite 0/40. In the marathon 2nd set the Argentine trailed *1:3 to have three break points at 4:3 (eight deuces). He also led 3:1 in the tie-break, but forehand errors cost him losing the crucial set. In the 3rd set he also erased a break deficit (from 1:3 to 3-all), but the Serbian took the final three games converting his first match point with an overhead. There was a 7-minute break between sets two and three. “I don’t want to think about that level again because I feel like I’m on a whole new level,” Djokovic said about his consistency before the elbow injury, “That’s kind of my approach and my thinking. I just want to create from this moment onwards the most that I can create for myself, to get the best out of myself in every possible moment.”

Djokovic’s route to his 71st title:
    1 Marton Fucsovics 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, 6-0
    2 Tennys Sandgren 6-1, 6-3, 6-7(2), 6-2
    3 Richard Gasquet 6-2, 6-3, 6-3
    4 Joao Sousa 6-3, 6-4, 6-3
    Q John Millman 6-3, 6-4, 6-4
    S Kei Nishikori 6-3, 6-4, 6-2
    W Juan Martin del Potro 6-3, 7-6(4), 6-3

    # Comparison of their two almost identical US Open meetings:

    2018 (F): Djokovic d. Del Potro 6-3, 7-6, 6-3… 3 hours 15 minutes…. Total points: 111-96
