33 % Ginepri – 53 of 158

Exceptionally quick match for a 5-setter with a solid number of games (lasted only 2 hours 44 minutes). Decisive break of the 5th set came at 3:2 for Agassi [7], who finished the match with an ace. Agassi’s last advancement to a major final, certainly helped the fact that his twelve years younger compatriot played fourth consecutive five-set match at the US Open: no-one had done it before. The 23-year-old Ginepri [46], enjoyed the best period of his tennis-career in the second half of 2005: he won his biggest title (Indianapolis), and reached three semifinals of prestigious tournaments – Cincinnati, US Open and Madrid – losing every time after competitive matches to the best players in the world (Federer, Agassi & Nadal respectively)…
