[11] Roddick’s only break point occurred as he led 1:0 (40/30) in the 2nd set – Sampras lost the control over his FH-volley but the ball luckily for him landed on the baseline. The match was over actually after sixty minutes when Sampras opened the 3rd set with a break. Such a beatdown in a clash between the best US players of two different decades, couldn’t be expected because in their two previous meetings, Roddick was distinctively better (won 7-6, 6-3 twice).
