  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 35-33, 22-32, 47-43 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    21 % Scanlon – 23 of 109
    26 % Borg – 25 of 93

Unusual “2-1” match in Borg’s [1] career in which he lost two sets being close to win them. In the opener he led 5:4* (deuce), in the decider he missed a volley from quite comfortable position at *4:3 (30/0), in the following game he had two mini-match points. Trailing 5:6 he led 40/15 and served “an ace” but the ball touched the net-cord, and the Swede lost four points in a row… They met on the same court a year before (in the second round), and Scanlon [30] raced to sensational lead 6-2, *2:0 before losing 6-7, 1-6. Their third & last meeting occurred in 1981 (Milan) and Borg won it 6-1, 5-7, 6-3. Despite such a tight H2H against Borg, Scanlon couldn’t find the solution to make something similar against the other best player at the time (Connors) losing to him all seven matches never even playing a decider.
