Points won by each set: [ 28-22, 31-44, 33-26 ]
Points won directly behind the serve:
30 % Tomic – 30 of 97
32 % Anderson – 28 of 87

Untypical case that a player who won five games more, didn’t win more points, it’s because Anderson in the tie-break set won as many as 13 points more (mathematically 19 is possible). The South African [36] was broken in his opening service game, then held 12 times in a row, and at the change of ends at 3:4 in the 3rd set, he changed his shoes to be broken at ‘deuce’ in the following game. The 20-year-old Tomic [64] converted his first match point with a forehand winner. For Anderson it was the first out of 5 quite dramatic ATP finals he lost in a row (lost 7 straight finals in total).

Tomic’s route to his maiden title (50th main-level event):
1 Marinko Matosevic 6-3, 6-4
2 Florian Mayer 7-6(4), 6-2
Q Jarkko Nieminen 6-7(6), 6-4, 6-2
S Andreas Seppi 7-6(10), 6-4
W Kevin Anderson 6-3, 6-7(2), 6-3

# He saved 4 set points in the tie-break against Seppi (4:6, 7:8 & 9:10); earlier fought off 6 mini-SPs at 5-all; finished the event holding 39 times in a row
