  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 44-40, 42-42 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    12 % Simon – 11 of 86
    20 % Troicki – 17 of 82

It was a small revenge for the Davis Cup ’10 final in which Serbia outplayed France. In the decisive rubber Simon could face Troicki, but the Frenchman pulled out due to knee injury and Troicki notched the most valuable victory of his career defeating Michael Llodra. Generally speaking, Troicki [30] enjoyed the best period of his tennis life then, and began the Sydney final with a 16-4 record (conceded thrice to great players: Federer, Djokovic and Nadal – blowing two match points vs the Spaniard). Simon [41] had won their four previous encounters though, and used that mental edge in the tight two-setter. He took the opener converting his sixth set point (saved a mini set point at 4-all), and came back from 0:3* (15/30) in the 2nd set. “It’s always good to win the tournament,” Simon said. “You never know if you’re going to win more after, so I enjoy it every time.”

Simon’s route to his 8th title:
    1 Yen-Hsun Lu 6-0, 6-3
    2 Frederico Gil 6-1, 6-3
    Q Alexandr Dolgopolov 6-4, 6-3
    S Ernests Gulbis 7-6(1), 6-0
    W Viktor Troicki 7-5, 7-6(4)
