   Arguably [6] Ferreira’s best result on clay. He advanced to the semifinal winning four matches against very good players, and he did it not dropping a set, including a demolition job over Edberg in the quarterfinal. He extended his streak of sets won in a row to nine despite a bad start (saved a break point at 0:2), but Muster [10] was unbeatable at the time on clay. Nevertheless Ferreira led 3:2* (40/0) in the decider when played too tentatively from the baseline and made a few bad volley errors in the following game. Muster finished the match obtaining 17 of the last 20 points (!) – on his second match point he played a perfect FH-lob and celebrated on his knees.
