# In terms of the scoreline almost a copy of their Madrid final they played a week before. Just like in Madrid, Djokovic failed to serve the 1st set out, but broke Nadal’s serves in the end of both sets… It was absolutely incredible how they both dominated the tennis season in 2011, the fifth Masters 1K of the year and they met in the final for the fourth time (Djokovic skipped Monte Carlo helping Nadal won it easily). My description of the final.
Djokovic’s route to his 25th title:
2 Lukasz Kubot 6-0, 6-3
3 Stan Wawrinka 6-4, 6-1
Q Robin Soderling 6-3, 6-0
S Andy Murray 6-1, 3-6, 7-6(2)
W Rafael Nadal 6-4, 6-4
Serve & volley: both 0… Djokovic 2 points away from losing to Murray
# Comparison of their two clay-court Masters 1K finals of 2011:
Madrid: Djokovic d. Nadal 7-5, 6-4… 2 hours 18 minutes… Total points: 73-60
Rome: Djokovic d. Nadal 6-4, 6-4…. 2 hours 13 minutes… Total points: 69-61
