  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 31-17, 39-33, 34-29 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    18 % Courier – 18 of 97
    15 % Muster – 13 of 86

A lot of fuss about nothing… On paper that year in Paris it was the most exciting second round match, two elite clay-courters appeared: Courier [1] had won Rome that year (the toughest match he experienced vs Muster in 1R), Muster [22] triumphed in Monte Carlo. It was a time when Courier’s forehand was devastating though, and the Austrian couldn’t deal with it. In the 2nd set he led 4:3* when Courier got six straight games and he almost repeated a scoreline of their Australian Open ’92 clash # The American had two break points leading 4:2, at 4:3 he withstood a double break point and closed the match easily…. In the third round Courier has another tough task in theory, Mancini [18], and also overcomes that obstacle easier than could have been predicted (6-4, 6-2, 6-0).

    # Comparison of their two very similar matches of 1992:
    Aus Open (3R): Courier d. Muster 6-1, 6-4, 6-2… 1 hour 45 minutes… Total points: 92-60
    French Open (2R): Courier d. Muster 6-1, 6-4, 6-4… 2 hours 19 minutes… Total points: 104-79
