  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: [ 29-19, 32-24 ]
    Points won directly on serve:
    54 % Djokovic – 28 of 51
    39 % Shapovalov – 21 of 53

Shapovalov [28] appeared on the tennis scene as a gifted youngster two years ago, but needed 7 semifinal defeats to finally advance to his first ATP – Stockholm – he won the title there, a few weeks later he reached another ATP final thanks to Nadal’s withdrawal from the semifinal. The 20-year-old Canadian played good tennis against Djokovic [1], but his receiving games were abysmal; Djokovic usually has under 30% of points directly behind the serve, yet this time he had more than 50% (!) – much more than in each of his three previous Parisian finals which he won in straight sets #. “I think I had the best serving match of the tournament, and that’s why the match was pretty short,” Djokovic said. “I put him under pressure [on] the second serve, and from the back of the court, I was solid and not giving him too many opportunities.”

Djokovic’s route to his 77th title:
    2 Corentin Moutet 7-6(2), 6-4
    3 Kyle Edmund 7-6(7), 6-1
    Q Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-1, 6-2
    S Grigor Dimitrov 7-6(5), 6-4
    W Denis Shapovalov 6-3, 6-4

    Serve & volley: Djokovic 1/2, Shapovalov 1/3

    # Djokovic’s straight set Paris final wins & percentage of his unreturned serves:
    2013 David Ferrer 7-5, 7-5… 20%
    2014 Milos Raonic 6-2, 6-3… 28%
    2015 Andy Murray 6-2, 6-4… 22%
    2019 Denis Shapovalov 6-3, 6-4… 54% (!)
