Points won by each set: | 37-32, 27-14 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
28 % Sock – 15 of 52
20 % Benneteau – 12 of 59
It was an amazing opportunity for the 36-year-old Benneteau [77] at the end of his career to finally win a tournament, not only his first ATP title, but also one of the biggest events in front of his home crowd. Before the semifinals he could have realistically thought about the title because his H2H records against the semifinalists were: 1-0 Sock, 2-0 Krajinovic, 0-1 Isner. The beginning of the semifinal against Sock, proved that winning four matches cost Benneteau a lot of energy. He was heavily breathing, and even though he came back from a break twice, it was difficult to imagine he’d win the match. In the 2nd set, from 1:2 Sock won five straight games without any troubles.
