  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 30-38, 44-45, 34-30 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    17 % Nishikori – 18 of 105
    18 % Ferrer – 21 of 116

In the 2nd set tie-break, Ferrer led 4:0 & 5:2*; from 1:4 to 6:5 Nishikori played five clean winners (smash, forehand, forehand, volley, forehand) and finished the set with a service winner. In the 3rd set, the Spaniard led 4:3*… if he had won the match he would have still had a chance to qualify for the season ending tournament in London. The match was concluded at 00:35 local time.

Nishikori had then beaten Ferrer in deciding third sets on all surfaces:
    grass: London-Olympics ’12….. 6-0, 3-6, 6-4….. 1 hour 56 minutes… 6 points away
    hard: Miami ’14….. 7-6(7), 2-6, 7-6(9)….. 3 hours 5 minutes… 4 m.p.
    clay: Madrid ’14….. 7-6(5), 5-7, 6-3….. 2 hours 56 minutes…
    hard (indoors): Paris ’14….. 3-6, 7-6(5), 6-4….. 2 hours 43 minutes… 2 points away
