   When they previously faced each other in Miami ’14, Nishikori prevailed 7-6(7), 2-6, 7-6(9) saving four match points – the match lasted 3 hours 5 minutes, in Madrid 2 hours 55 minutes, and the Japanese again won very tense ending of sets 1 & 3… Ferrer had led 5:2* (30-all) in the 1st set before lost it 5/7, Nishikori squandered a match point at 5:4* in the 2nd set – Ferrer struck an ace. In the last (10 deuces) game of the match, which took 17 minutes, Nishikori needed 9 match points (saved 4 break points). “Now I’m hurting because I’ve lost a really tough match,” said Ferrer. “I had my opportunities too, especially in the first set.
