  1. Voo de Mar says:
    * Kyrgios played a winner between his legs running forwards in the 2nd set (it was a cross-court passing-shot)

    Points won by each set: | 56-50, 43-42, 41-38 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    31 % Federer – 38 of 122
    37 % Kyrgios – 55 of 148

Eleven years after Miami final, Federer [6] plays an all three-set tie-break match again, an opponent of his first Miami match of this type (Ivan Ljubicic) that time sits in Federer’s box as his coach, while the format is different and Federer wins 2-1 instead of 3-0. Actually the tightest Masters 1K semifinal in history, all three sets could have gone either way: Federer saved two set points in the first tie-break (*7:8 & 8:9 – Kyrgios served 132 mph, but Federer blocked it perfectly) and wasted two match points in the second tie-break (led 5:3, 6:5 & 8:7)… in the third tie-break he trailed *1:3 and 4:5*. Kyrgios [16] having the match in his own hands, misjudged the risk, in two consecutive points delivered very fast second serves, first he lost a point in bad circumstances (a call from the stands disturbed him), then at 5-all committed a double fault & Federer converted his third match point (the first on serve) with a service winner out-wide. # Remarkable that it was their second meeting, and just like at the first time, three tie-breaks were required!

    Serve & volley: Federer 3/6, Kyrgios 5/6

    # Comparison of their first two meetings (!):
    Madrid 2015 (2R): Kyrgios d. Federer 6-7(2), 7-6(5), 7-6(12)… 2 hours 37 minutes… Total points: 127-131… 2 m.p.
    Miami 2017 (SF): Federer d. Kyrgios 7-6(9), 6-7(9), 7-6(5)… 3 hours 11 minutes… Total points: 140-130… 2 points away
