  1. Voo de Mar says:
    # Total points: 95-58

    Points won by each set: [ 34-20, 28-14, 33-24 ]
Points won directly behind the serve:
    14 % Coria – 10 of 69
    7 % Schuettler – 6 of 84

Coria [4] claimed his 26th straight victory on clay and spoiled Schuettler’s 28th birthday (born: April 25, 1976). The German [6] was outplayed in the first two sets, in the 3rd set he began playing more aggressive tennis and twice had a point to lead by a break of serve. Coria’s wall-mode was so frustrating for the German that caused him losing his mind as he was trailing 0:3* (15/30) in the 2nd set – he returned the ball, and after Coria’s winner he wanted Lahyani to check the mark of the serve. The umpire awarded the point to Coria though, and Schuettler demanded the supervisor, but couldn’t change the score. For Schuettler – the sensation of 2003, Monte Carlo ’04 meant his only very good result of the season in singles (in doubles he won the silver medal in Athens), basically that event finished the best period of his career which stretched over 15 months. En route to the final in Monaco, Schuettler had defeated four Top 20 players, including former French Open champions (Kuerten, Moya) in straight sets.

Coria’s route to his 8th title:
    1 Thomas Enqvist 6-0, 6-1
    2 Nicolas Kiefer 6-0, 6-3
    3 Andrei Pavel 4-6, 6-1, 6-4
    Q David Nalbandian 6-4, 6-3
    S Marat Safin 6-4, 1-6, 6-3
    W Rainer Schuettler 6-2, 6-1, 6-3
