  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: [ 28-15, 28-18 ]
Points won directly behind the serve:
    35 % Roddick – 15 of 42
    17 % Nalbandian – 8 of 47

One year after beating Nalbandian (6-3 6-2) at the Canadian Open, Roddick defeated the Argentine easily in the same tournament again, but in a different city. The American [7] entered the best period of his career – after his triumph in Montreal, he claimed the titles in Cincinnati & US Open which allowed him to become the best player in the world. Nalbandian [21] broke the only time trailing 0:1 in the 2nd set. For him it was a breakthrough tournament as well. He waited more than one year for another big final (following Wimbledon). A few weeks after the Canadian final he almost avenged defeat in straight sets of the US Open semifinal.

Roddick’s route to his 10th title:
    1 Xavier Malisse 3-6, 6-0, 6-2
    2 Juan Ignacio Chela 7-6(6), 6-2
    3 Sebastien Grosjean 6-3, 6-3
    Q Karol Kucera 7-6(5), 6-3
    S Roger Federer 6-4, 3-6, 7-6(3)
    W David Nalbandian 6-1, 6-3

    # Roddick trailed *2:4 in the 3rd set of his semifinal
