   There was a period when Courier [2] defeated Agassi [8] six times in a row, and the Masters semifinal meant third straight win for Courier in the streak. In the 2nd set Agassi led *4:2 and 5:4 (30/0), but Courier won 12 out of the last 14 points with the help of very good serving. The four months younger American advanced to the first of his two consecutive Masters finals, losing them both.
