  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: [ 29-15, 41-37 ]
    Points won directly on serve:
    27 % Del Potro – 16 of 58
    23 % Roddick – 15 of 64

Times when the almost 20-year-old Del Potro [24] underwent a sudden metamorphosis, and with a modest 9-8 record for the season, he won four events in a row dropping just two sets in the progress – Los Angeles was the third in the streak; after two clay-court titles he showed that he’d be dangerous on hardcourts as well. Roddick [9] began the final in a poor form, trailing 1:4* he took a medical time-out (lower back); he improved afterwards, but to the end of the final he was not able to create any chances in Del Potro’s service games, only got ‘deuce’ once, at 4-all in the 2nd set. “I think it’s my biggest victory,” the champion said. “The first set, he played lights out,” said Roddick. “He’s playing well. No doubt he’s got a lot of talent. His forehand is huge. It will be interesting to see how he does. He certainly has the weapons; it depends on how he builds on it.” After Los Angeles, DelPo triumphed in Washington, in the meantime he had a streak of 28 sets won in a row!

Potro’s route to his 3rd title:
    2 Andrea Stoppini 6-4, 6-2
    Q Amer Delic 7-6(6), 6-2
    S Mardy Fish 6-2, 6-1
    W Andy Roddick 6-1, 7-6(2)

Serve & volley: Del Potro 0, Roddick 2/4
