Points won by each set: | 35-30, 34-38, 39-30 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
36 % Agassi – 36 of 99
49 % Roddick – 53 of 107
Super fast, night-session match (2 hours 6 minutes) with almost maximum of games played in a three-setter. Paradoxically, it started with a very long rally (22 strokes), then the majority of rallies were consisted of only 1-4 strokes. Despite very tight scoreline, nothing dramatic happened in any of those three sets. Agassi [11] won his sets not being closer than 3 & 5 points away from losing them while Roddick [2] got his set not being closer than 5 points away from a straight set defeat (he already led 5:0* in the first tie-break, Agassi 5:1* in the second one). Roddick got just once ‘deuce’ in Agassi’s 18 service games. # Agassi’s nice revenge for a mirroring defeat at Queens Club a year before.
Serve & volley: Agassi 3/6, Roddick 0/1
# Comparison of their two semifinals concluded in deciding tie-breaks: Queens Club ’03: Roddick d. Agassi 6-1, 6-7(5), 7-6(6)… 1 hour 57 minutes… Total points: 107-88 (aces: 27-4) Cincinnati ’04: Agassi d. Roddick 7-5, 6-7(2), 7-6(2)… 2 hours 6 minutes… Total points: 108-98 (aces: 16-30)
