   Simon [12] improves his great record in ATP finals to 10-2 claiming his third Romanian Open title (2007-08) in his third appearance there. It’s the first ATP final for the 25-year-old Fognini [57]. The Italian began the match with *2:0 (deuce), but from 3-all the more experienced & patient Simon was dominating longer rallies to the end. In the 2nd set the Frenchman survived two longest games of the match, withstanding 5 break points first, then 5 game points. “It was very difficult,” said Simon of the one hour, fifty-minute encounter. “Fabio played well and I had to run a lot today.” One week later they face each other in the Madrid first round, and Simon wins 6-7, 6-3, 6-3 after 2:29h.
