   Stefan Koubek [65] participated in 38 Grand Slam events, and it was his only quarterfinal. He seemed very tired and showed poor display, nevertheless it was a miracle he’d won the first round at all – trailed 0-6 1-6 *1:4 (15/40) against Cyril Saulnier to save a match point in the 3rd set tie-break and win the match in five sets despite winning 30 points fewer! It’s a strong candidate to the biggest comeback of the Open Era. The match vs Novak [24] was played indoors, Koubek led *2:0 in the 2nd set to lose five straight games quickly. With that victory, the player from Czechia reached his only major semifinal.
