The match was played on Rod Laver Arena indoors, and after the first two sets an epic five-setter could be anticipated, but the Frenchman, who hadn’t faced a break point for the first hour and forty-two minutes, wilted in the last two sets. The Spaniard quickly obtained a *4:0 and 2:0* in those sets, and finished the match with his most convincing hold, on match point stamped by a powerful ace.
