  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 33-38, 31-24, 32-25, 40-35 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    28 % Djokovic – 35 of 122
    28 % Tsonga – 39 of 136

Their first meeting in an unexpected final – the first one on a new type of hardcourt (Plexicushion replaced a slower Rebound Ace which featured the years 1988-2007). The almost 23-year-old Tsonga [38] was playing his just 16th main-level tournament (the two years younger Djokovic his 55th). The Frenchman continued his sensational run winning the opener after a forehand lob, but more consistent Djokovic [3] took control over the following three sets – in the 4th set he was leading all the time (saved a break point at 5-all). “I was a bit nervous on the start because I found myself in a strange situation: that I am the favorite in the finals of a Grand Slam,” the 20-year-old Djokovic said. “It was dangerous, but I managed to cope with the pressure well.” Two years later on the same court, also under the floodlights, Tsonga takes a revenge.

Djokovic’s route to his 8th title (his first major):
    1 Benjamin Becker 6-0, 6-2, 7-6(5)
    2 Simone Bolelli 6-1, 6-2, 6-2
    3 Sam Querrey 6-3, 6-1, 6-3
    4 Lleyton Hewitt 7-5, 6-3, 6-3
    Q David Ferrer 6-0, 6-3, 7-5
    S Roger Federer 7-5, 6-3, 7-6(5)
    W Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 7-6(2)
