  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 26-16, 35-24, 28-17 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    36 % Tsonga – 28 of 76
    14 % Nadal – 10 of 70

Tsonga’s best performance ever… A few months earlier in their first meeting, Nadal [2] beat him 7-6 6-2 6-1 at the US Open. So Tsonga [38] began that Aussie Open semifinal with a nothing-to-lose mindset, and everything worked for him perfectly: his serves were crisp as well as his forehands, his volleys were unbelievable – he won a few points at the net being off balance. The 22-year-old Tsonga reached his first (and last) major final in his fifth Grand Slam appearance. Mats Wilander after that sensational performance said: “He is the greatest player in the world. He has better physics, tactics & technique than Federer”… Nadal will be obliterated in a similar style in a Grand Slam semifinal 20 months later by Del Potro in New York.
