   Borg [2] had two mini-match points at 4-all in the 4th set, in the 5th set he had another two mini-match points at 4:0, but Connors [1] tied and led on serve 15/0 at 4-all – lost eight points in a row! Prior to the final, Connors had led 6:2 in their H2H. The final lasted 3:14 hours, their second Wimbledon 5-setter (SF ’81) would last 3:18 hours. It was a 15th Grand Slam tournament for both finalists. “I thought the match might slip away then,” Borg said in a rare admission for someone whose inner thoughts often are buried. Connors said: “Maybe I got a little excited and rushed into things instead of being calm and collected.”
