   It was their 42nd meeting (21-21), including 14 at majors – it’s a record (Djokovic leads 8-6)… The match began with a 3-hour delay due to rain. The Serbian saved plenty of break points (many of them after quite long rallies), the most important were two at 3:4 in the 3rd set. In the 4th set he was serving to win 6-2, then saved three break points at 5:4 to convert his first match point after 3 hours 20 minutes. The same scoreline in a Grand Slam final occurred in 1969 as Rod Laver defeated John Newcombe at Wimbledon. Thanks to that victory, Djokovic has secured himself No. 1 at the end of this season.
