  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 38-32, 54-46 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    47 % Tsonga – 33 of 70
    28 % Federer – 28 of 100

Tsonga’s second ‘Masters 1000’ title (behind Paris ’08). He has won eleven titles overall. The Frenchman, ranked No. 14 in the world, beat four Top 10’ers en route to the title : Djokovic [1], Murray [9], Dimitrov [8] & Federer [3]. He was *0:3 in the 3rd set against Murray. “I feel good,” said Tsonga. “I think for the moment I don’t realize really what I achieved this week, but it’s a big achievement for me. It’s completely different than before when I won in Paris. In Paris it was the first one, behind my family, all my friends, everybody. Here I just did it with my level, with my game. I played well all week. I beat many good guys. It’s a big achievement because I worked really hard to come back from my knee injury last year.“Today was just difficult in terms of rhythm from the baseline, so it was like a new tournament for me,” said Federer referring to the fact he played the previous four matches under the lights. In the 2nd set the Frenchman didn’t lose two points in any of his six service games, while Federer needed 13 deuces in three different games to avoid being broken. Two days after the triumph Tsonga loses 1-6, 4-6 to Mikhail Youzhny in the Cincinnati first round.

Tsonga’s route to his 2nd and last masters 1K title:
    1 Edouard Roger-Vasselin 7-6(3), 6-1
    2 Jeremy Chardy 7-6(6), 6-4
    3 Novak Djokovic 6-2, 6-2
    Q Andy Murray 7-6(5), 4-6, 6-4
    S Grigor Dimitrov 6-4, 6-3
    W Roger Federer 7-5, 7-6(3)

Tsonga has beaten Federer five times, three of those victories occurred at the Canadian Open:
    Montreal 2009, quarterfinal: Tsonga d. Federer 7-6(5), 1-6, 7-6(3)
    Montreal 2011, third round: Tsonga d. Federer 7-6(3), 4-6, 6-1
    Toronto 2014, final: Tsonga d. Federer 7-5, 7-6(3)
