  1. Voo de Mar says:
☆ At the time when Federer, Nadal, Djokovic & Murray co-created the “Big 4” (itvroughly lasted 2008-2015), Ferrer, Tsonga, Berdych & Del Potro were their “toughest” rivals; they were the most consistent players, claiming ATP 250/500 titles on a regular basis, yet unable of winning the biggest ones despite countless quarter- and semifinals. I’d call them a “second big 4” (in the year 2010, Del Potro drastically dropped in the ranking because he hadn’t play actually the entire year). Each of them considerably helped their nations to triumph at the Davis Cup (Ferrer did it thrice, Berdych twice).

Biggest finals (Grand Slam, Masters 1K and ATP Finals):

    Ferrer…0-1 and 1-6 and 0-1
    Tsonga… 0-1 and 2-4 and 0-1
    Berdych… 0-1 and 1-3 and 0
    DelPotro… 1-1 and 1-3 and 0-1

    Ranking in the years 2008-2013:

    Ferrer (1982)… 12 – 17 – 7 – 5 – 5 – 3
    Tsonga (1985)… 6 – 10 – 13 – 6 – 8 – 10
    Berdych (1985)… 20 – 20 – 6 – 7 – 6 – 7
    DelPotro (1988)… 9 – 5 – 258 – 11 – 7 – 5

    H2H against each other:

    (17-16) Ferrer… 3-1 Tsonga, 8-8 Berdych, 6-7 DelPotro
    (8-16) Tsonga… 1-3 Ferrer, 5-8 Berdych, 2-5 DelPotro
    (20-18) Berdych… 8-8 Ferrer, 8-5 Tsonga, 4-5 DelPotro
    (17-12) DelPotro… 7-6 Ferrer, 5-2 Tsonga, 5-4 Berdych

    H2H against the Big 4:
    (17-73) Ferrer… Djokovic 5-16, Nadal 6-26, Federer 0-17, Murray 6-14
    (18-53) Tsonga… Djokovic 6-17, Nadal 4-10, Federer 6-12, Murray 2-14
    (19-76) Berdych… Djokovic 3-25, Nadal 4-20, Federer 6-20, Murray 6-11
    (20-52) DelPotro… Djokovic 4-16, Nadal 6-11, Federer 7-18, Murray 3-7

In 2014, three new faces changed this configuration: Wawrinka, Nishikori & Cilic
