  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 31-24, 24-40, 30-28 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    23 % Dzumhur – 26 of 113
    25 % Berankis – 16 of 64

A final of short players (~175 cm) representing countries that didn’t mean anything in tennis from historic perspective in the 20th Century. Berankis [169, played with protected ranking after missing the first four months of the season – hip surgery] was trying to become the first man from Lithuania to win an ATP title (five years after his first final attempt) while Dzumhur was on a roll after claiming his first title for Bosnia & Herzegovina a few weeks before. It was much tighter match than the scoreline would suggest. Dzumhur [38] was pushed to one deuce at least in each of his four service games of the opener (saved break points in three games), in the 2nd set he survived a 13-minute game at 0:2 consisted of 12 deuces (!) and had a break point in the following game. In the decider he trailed *3:4 when he fought off a triple mini-match point in a very good style (unreturned serve & two backhand winners DTL). Berankis had a game point at 4-all, but the pressure of making history for Lithuania perhaps paralysed him and he played a terrible volley. Trailing 4:5* he built a 40/0 advantage again as a receiver, but played poorly the next five points and Dzumhur celebrated his second title within a few weeks, becoming the first man to win two titles in Russia within one season # In St. Petersburg, he also survived a match facing a triple mini-match point (in the quarterfinal against Liam Broady). Three days after the Moscow final, Dzumhur beats Berankis again (6-4, 6-2) in the Vienna first round.

Dzumhur’s route to his 2n title:
    1 Thomas Fabbiano 6-3, 0-6, 6-2
    2 Yuki Bhambri 4-6, 7-5, 6-4
    Q Andreas Seppi 4-6, 6-2, 6-4
    S Mirza Basic 6-0, 7-6(9)
    W Ricardas Berankis 6-2, 1-6, 6-4

Dzumhur was 3 points away vs Bhambri (*4:5 in 2nd), 8 pts. vs Seppi (*3:4 in 3rd) and 5 pts. in two different games of the final,
he needed 11 MPs to beat his countryman Basic who had 2 SPs in TB after saving 10 MPs!

    # Comparison of Dzumhur’s two titles in Russia ’17:
    St. Petersburg: Dzumhur d. Fognini 3-6, 6-4, 6-2… 1 hour 54 minutes… Total points: 98-85… 6 points away
    Moscow: Dzumhur d. Berankis 6-2, 1-6, 6-4… 1 hour 39 minutes… Total points: 85-92… 5 points away
