6 % Skoff – 3 of 48

Skoff [32] was constantly disappointing at Slams, but in big events on clay he notched a few valuable results; in Monte Carlo he played two semifinals (1989 & 1991) losing them explicitly. The 2nd set of his match vs Bruguera [15] it was a dogfight though. Skoff had won 2 out of their 3 previous matches, and he showed it in that set; he led 2:0, 3:2 and had three break points in the last & longest (15 minutes) game of the match. Bruguera stopped the play on his second match point and the umpire confirmed Skoff’s ball was wide… Bizarre moment in the opener – Bruguera hit two straight aces off his second serves.

Serve & volley: Bruguera 2/4, Skoff 0/1
